1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Hughes Education Ltd, trading as SalonVQ ("we", "us"). SalonVQ is a trading name of Hughes Education Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17496832). Registered office: 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE.
They cover SalonVQ Study, at salonvqstudy.com and in the SalonVQ Study app. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Who can use SalonVQ Study
- Independent learners must be 16 or over to create an account.
- College learners use an account set up by their school, college or training provider. If you are under 16, you may use SalonVQ Study only through one of these accounts.
- Teachers and college staff use the service under their college's agreement with us. Where that agreement says something different from these terms, the agreement applies.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your password or PIN private.
- Your account is for you only. Do not share it or let someone else learn under your name.
- Tell us or your tutor straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can delete an independent learner account at any time from Profile → Delete my account.
4. What SalonVQ Study is, and is not
SalonVQ Study is a revision and learning tool for hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy. It supports your course. It does not replace it.
- We are not an awarding body. Using SalonVQ Study does not give you a qualification, and results in the app are not formal assessment results.
- SalonVQ is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by any awarding body or exam board. Where unit numbers or titles appear, they are there only to help teachers match lessons to the course they deliver.
- Readiness indicators and predictions are estimates to guide your revision. They are not a guarantee of any exam or assessment result.
- Always follow your tutor, your awarding body's requirements, manufacturers' instructions and current health and safety law when working on clients or models.
5. The AI tutors
Jade, Kai and Bella are AI tutors, not people. Their replies and any photo feedback are generated by artificial intelligence.
- AI can make mistakes. Check anything important with your tutor or your course materials.
- The tutors give educational information only. They do not give medical, legal or professional advice.
- Photo feedback is informal practice feedback. It is not a formal assessment decision.
- Fair-use limits apply to the AI tutors and photo tools so the service stays available to everyone. The app will tell you if you reach a limit.
6. Using the service properly
You agree not to:
- use the AI tutors for anything other than learning related to your course;
- enter personal details about other people, or upload photos of someone's face without their permission;
- upload anything unlawful, offensive or harmful;
- try to access another person's account or data;
- copy, scrape, resell or reverse engineer the service or its lessons;
- use automated tools to send requests to the service, or try to get around its limits or security.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
7. Price
Independent learner accounts are currently free. If we introduce paid plans, we will show you the price and the payment terms before you pay anything, and we will update these terms. College accounts are paid for by the college under its own agreement with us.
8. Our content and yours
The lessons, tutor characters, design and software are owned by Hughes Education Ltd or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own learning. SalonVQ® is a registered trademark (UK00004394141).
Anything you write or upload stays yours. You give us permission to use it only as needed to provide the service to you. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the app without owing you anything.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep SalonVQ Study running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free from errors. We may update, change or withdraw features. If we plan to close the service, we will give independent learners reasonable notice.
10. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Apart from that, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for business losses, or for results you were hoping to achieve in any exam or assessment.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using SalonVQ Study at any time. We can end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
